Our long term expat health insurance policies have no time limit on the length of the policy and offers flexible monthly cancellation.

Below, we provide an overview of our cancellation policy.

Do you have a cooling off/right of withdrawal period?

Yes, you can cancel anytime up to 14 days after the policy commences and receive a full refund. After this, there is a minimum one month term on the policy.

For example, if you purchase a policy on January 1st, and the policy starts on February 1st, then you would have anytime until February 15th to cancel and receive a full refund.

What is the general cancellation policy?

For cancellations outside of the right of withdrawal period, we have a monthly cancellation policy. This means that when you cancel, you will not be billed for the following monthly start date anniversary of your policy.

For example: If your policy starts on the 15th of January, and you cancel on the 25th of February, your policy would then expire at the end of that billing cycle, which would be March 14th.

How do I cancel?

You can cancel easily through your Feather account!

  • Log in to your Feather account

  • Click on your long term expat policy

  • Provide requested proof for canceling

  • Click confirm

Your cancellation will then be processed and you will not be charged at the next monthly anniversary.

Why am I being requested to upload proof?

As health insurance is a legal requirement at all times in Germany, we request proof such as proof of other health insurance or proof of leaving Germany in order to be able to process the cancellation.

Can I cancel if I want to switch to public or private health insurance?

Yes!

In fact, if you are eligible for public or private health insurance, we can even assist you to switch over and we will ensure there are no gaps nor overlap between the switch to your new policy.

You can use our recommendation tool to help you figure if you are eligible, and if you are, feel free to reach out to us so we can assist you with the switch!
