You can submit an expat health insurance claim through your account by selecting your policy, uploading your documents, and providing a valid European IBAN for reimbursement. Claims can be submitted for treatments that occurred while your policy was active, even after canceling. If you need to add documents after submitting, you can do so within 7 days of the initial submission.

How do I submit an expat health insurance claim?

To submit a claim, log into your account and follow these steps:

  1. Select your expat health insurance policy.

  2. Select "Make a Claim."

  3. Upload your supporting documents — scans or photos of invoices are accepted.

  4. Enter a valid European IBAN for reimbursement.

  5. Add any additional notes relevant to your claim.

Once submitted, your claim will be reviewed and you'll receive updates by email.

Do I need a European IBAN to receive my reimbursement?

Yes. We're unable to process a reimbursement without a valid European IBAN, as stated in our Terms and Conditions. We recommend having a bank account that can receive euro payments via IBAN, especially if you're residing in the EU.

Digital banks such as N26, Revolut, and Wise offer free accounts with a European IBAN and are a straightforward option if you don't already have one. Alternatively, you can use the IBAN of someone you trust.

How long does it take to process an expat health insurance claim?

Claims are typically processed within 2–4 weeks. In some cases, processing can take up to 6 weeks. Processing time depends on the complexity of the claim and whether all required documents were submitted upfront. You'll receive an email notification when your claim has been reviewed and a decision has been made.

How and when will I receive my reimbursement?

Once your claim is approved, reimbursement is paid directly to the European IBAN you provided when submitting the claim. You'll receive an email notification confirming the outcome and the reimbursement details.

What happens if we need more information to process my claim?

If the documents you submitted are insufficient, we'll request additional documentation or ask your doctor to complete a specific form. Upload any requested documents to your existing claim through your account. If a doctor's form is requested, complete every field in as much detail as possible and enter "N/A" for any questions that don't apply to you.

How do I add documents to an existing claim?

You can add documents to an existing claim within 7 days of the initial submission. To do so:

  1. Log into your Feather account.

  2. Select the claim you want to update.

  3. Click on the option to add documents and upload the new files.

If the 7-day window has passed, submit the additional documents as a new claim. We'll link the new claim to your original submission to keep all related information connected. You can contact our support team for more assistance or additional resources.

Can I submit a claim after canceling my expat health insurance policy?

Yes. You can submit claims for any medical treatment that took place while your policy was active, even after canceling. You have up to 3 years from the date of the medical event to submit a claim. The submission process is the same — log into your account and submit a claim under your 'canceled' policy.
