Damage or loss of your belongings after an insured event can be really stressful, but don't worry we've got you covered!

Here's everything you need to know to make a claim.

First things first, in order to file a claim, we recommend you take photos of the things that were damaged or broken (the more photos the better) and write down what happened so you remember.

Then find as many receipts for your damaged belongings as possible and where receipts aren't available, a full description of the item: brand, model number, how much you paid for it, when you bought it and where.

Please note you'll need:

  • An official police report (Bestätigung zur Erstattung einer Anzeige), if you're reporting a burglary, robbery or bike theft. Find out how to submit a police report.

  • An incident report from the fire brigade if you're reporting a fire.

  • In case of tap water damage, proof of the cause (e.g. the report and/or repair invoice from the plumber).

  • In case of storm or hail, the date, time and location.

Once you have all this information ready you can submit your claim.

Step 1. Log in to your Feather account

Head to www.feather-insurance.com and go to "Log In" in the upper right-hand corner or just click the button below!

Step 2. Access your claims tab

Click into the claims section and then select 'New claim' and there you can submit your household claim.

Step 3. Enter the date of the event

This is the day when your belongings were damaged or loss to your belongings happened and not when you're reporting it to us.

Step 4. Select the right claim type

Step 5. Describe what happened

Let us know as much information as possible about how the damage happened. The more information the better. If your claim is not clear, we'll need to reach out to you for further information, which can delay the processing time.

Step 6. Upload your photos and documents

Upload high-quality photos of the damaged item(s), receipts/invoices of the damaged items where possible and any incident reports, police reports etc, that are relevant to the claim.

Step 7. Give us your payment details

Enter the amount that you're claiming and enter your personal IBAN so we can transfer the reimbursement when it's approved.

Step 8. Wait for payment

We'll get in touch once we've received your claim and let you know when it's been processed and your reimbursement has been sent. This can take up to 2 - 4 weeks.

We'll follow up with you if we have any questions.

Please note, the cost of a locksmith breaking into your apartment is not covered by household contents insurance.
