Medical checkups help us assess your health risks and may allow us to waive waiting periods. This means you can use your full coverage as soon as your insurance begins.

When are medical checkups required?

Medical checkups are required in the following cases before joining private health insurance:

  • You have certain medical conditions, such as high weight or a recent surgery

  • You are over the age of 55

  • At any point during the last 12 months, you had only travel health insurance or no health insurance anywhere in the world

What types of checkups are required?

Usually we require the following checkups:

  • A dental examination.

  • A general checkup with a general practitioner.

  • A blood test.

If any of your health conditions require specific checkups, we’ll let you know automatically.

How do I complete the checkups with Feather?

  1. Apply online. We’ll process your application within 3 business days.

  2. Check your email. If medical checkups are needed, we’ll send instructions.

  3. Book your checkups. Choose any doctor you prefer, even outside of Germany.

  4. Upload your doctor’s assessment to your account.

  5. Get reimbursed.

What reimbursement is provided for medical checkups?

We cover up to €195 per person for medical exams, even if you’re not accepted. You’ll receive instructions once your application is processed.
