Am I covered driving abroad?
Your car insurance covers driving abroad in the same way it does in Germany, throughout Europe. In most of the EU, your license plate proves you have valid insurance.
For some non-EU countries, including Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro, you need a Green Card (Internationale Versicherungskarte), a standardized document proving you have valid liability coverage. If the Green Card isn't on the last page of the insurance certificate issued when your policy activates, we can request it for you.
Which vehicles can't I insure with Feather?
We only insure passenger cars (Pkw). We can't insure the following.
Vans over 3.5 tonnes and other vehicles registered as LKWs (light commercial vehicles), including panel vans, flatbed trucks, and pickup trucks registered for commercial use. This depends on how the vehicle is registered, not its size or how you use it. If the vehicle type field on your registration document (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I) shows "LKW" or a variant such as "LKW GESCHL.KASTEN," the vehicle isn't eligible.
Commercially registered vehicles, regardless of vehicle type.
Short-stay visitors who don't meet our residency requirements.
Certain imported cars, camper vans, and other specialty vehicles.
