At the moment, if you want to switch between the Surgery and Plus plans or change your deductible, you’ll need to purchase a new policy online. Once the new policy becomes active, we’ll take care of cancelling your previous policy for you.

Can I switch between the Surgery and Plus plans?

Yes, you can switch between the Surgery and Plus plans.

To make this change, you’ll need to purchase a new policy online. This is required because we need updated answers to the health questions during the signup process.

If you upgrade from the Surgery to the Plus plan, your existing policy can be cancelled as soon as the new policy begins. The new policy will then start with a minimum contract duration of one year.

Please note that upgrading from the Surgery plan to the Plus plan is not possible if your pet is 6 years old or older.

If you downgrade from the Plus plan to the Surgery plan, the change is only possible after the first year of your current policy has passed.

Can I change the deductible on my policy?

Yes, you can change your deductible between 0% and 20%.

If you want to increase your deductible (for example, from 0% to 20%), this is considered a downgrade and can usually be arranged after the first year of your policy.

If you want to decrease your deductible (for example, from 20% to 0%), you’ll need to purchase a new policy and complete the signup questionnaire again.

Please note that reducing the deductible from 20% to 0% is not possible if your pet is 4 years old or older.

Do waiting periods apply when I change my policy?

If you switch to a plan with additional benefits, waiting periods will apply to the new coverage that was not included in your previous plan.

For example, if you upgrade from the Surgery plan to the Plus plan, the waiting period would apply only to the additional benefits included in the Plus plan. The surgical coverage that already existed under your previous policy would continue without a new waiting period.

If you downgrade your coverage, new waiting periods generally do not apply to benefits that were already included in your previous policy.
