What they are and how to do them

They are tests that help detect health issues early. The German government has created a list of recommended check-ups you can do after a certain age.

You can simply book the check-ups with your general practitioner, gynecologist, and dentist. Most offer them as a separate option when you book the appointment online.

Coverage under our private health plans

Most of our plans cover more check-ups than government guidelines — no age limits and extra screenings. Ultimately, it depends on the plan you're covered with but you'll find a general overview below.

  • New here? See full details for each plan on our website.

  • Already covered? Check the coverage overview in your account. Under Preventive treatments, you'll see exactly which check-ups are covered, any age limits, and if you can keep your no-claims bonus.

With most plans, you get money back if you only submit bills for preventive check-ups, as long as no extra services are added to the bills. The coverage overview in your account explains if and how you can get this bonus.

If you're eligible, and you want to do a check-up:

  1. Share the list of covered check-ups (in your account) with your doctor when booking the appointment.

  2. Submit the bill through your account after the visit.

  3. In rare cases where the bonus is affected because of extra services, you'll see this in the bill statement next to your bill once it's been processed. Simply reach out to our team to withdraw the bill and restore the bonus.
