We released an updated bike insurance tariff on July 31, 2024 with different terms & conditions. Below the conditions are stated depending on the date the policy was purchased.

Policies purchased after July 31, 2024:

Which bikes can be insured?

  • Most bikes and e-bikes of any age from any retailer are eligible for coverage! This includes carbon-framed bikes, vintage bikes, and e-bikes that do not require registration to legally ride.

Which bikes cannot be insured?

  • E-bikes that require special registration or licenses to operate

  • Dirt bikes and velomobiles

  • Self-built and converted bicycles

  • Commercially used bicycles (for delivery or courier services)

  • Bikes used for marketing purposes

Policies purchased prior to July 31, 2024:

Which bikes can be insured?

  • Bicycles or e-bikes newly purchased no more than 6 months from when the insurance policy has started. Coverage only applies to bikes that are used privately and purchased from an official dealer.

Which bikes cannot be insured?

  • Used and vintage bikes

  • Carbon frame bikes (carbon elements only, like fork, are accepted), fully covered bikes, velomobiles and dirt bikes

  • Self-built and converted bicycles (bicycles with converted parts with a total value of more than 20% of the purchase price)

  • Commercially used bicycles

  • Bikes that have to be paid for (bikes from sharing providers)

  • Bikes that were not purchased from an official dealer (cannot be purchased from a private individual)

  • Bicycles subject to registration and insurance requirements

Bikes that cannot be covered under Feather’s bike insurance may be eligible for coverage under our household contents insurance instead, such as used/vintage ones. Check out more information about that option here!
