In this article, we explain the general coverage of our annual travel insurance and show the differences between the two plans.

Our Feather travel insurance offers two plans:

BASIC and PREMIUM

Here's a summary and the key differences among them:

BASIC Plan

  • Coverage:

    • Travel health insurance only.

  • Key Features:

    • Doctor visits and hospital stays for medical treatment: Unlimited coverage.

    • Dental coverage: limited to pain-relieving procedures and simple fillings.

    • Medical transport: coverage for local transport to a hospital and medical repatriation if necessary.

    • Pregnancy: Coverage for complications, miscarriage, and preterm childbirth (before the 36th week). Childbirth after the 36th week if the pregnancy started after the policy started.

    • Search and Rescue: Up to €15,000.

    • Repatriation after death: covered.

  • Exclusions:

    • Excludes luggage damage/loss, cancellation costs, and curtailment.

    • Preventative treatments (e.g., vaccinations) and psychotherapy are not covered.

PREMIUM Plan

  • Coverage:

    • Comprehensive insurance, including health, cancellation, curtailment, emergencies, and luggage insurance.

  • Key Features:

    • All health coverage from the BASIC plan.

    • Trip cancellation and curtailment:

      • Covers costs due to unexpected serious illness, death, pregnancy complications, or adverse vaccination reactions.

      • Costs like cancellation costs, single-room supplements, and additional travel expenses due to delays.

      • Also costs for delayed starts, changing bookings, interruptions, and delayed returns.

      • Maximum insured sum: €2,000 (individual), €4,000 (family).

    • Luggage insurance:

      • Covers lost, delayed, or damaged luggage.

      • Up to €500 for replacement expenses if luggage is delayed.

      • Up to 50% of the insurance sum for damages to electronics (excluding mobiles), sports equipment, bikes, etc.

      • Specific coverage limits for damaged mobiles (€750), glasses (€250), and hearing devices.

    General Exclusions with all plans

    • No coverage for pre-existing conditions.

    • Preventative treatments (e.g., vaccinations) and psychotherapy are not covered.

    • Additional exclusions include limitations for psychological reactions to terrorism, accidents, or natural disasters.

    • Trips to countries for which the German government has issued a travel warning
