Repatriation, burial, or transport home in case of death

Sick notes from abroad
If you become sick while abroad and can’t work, a sick note from a doctor abroad is just as valid as one from Germany.
The note must specify:
That you are unable to work due to illness/injury
The expected duration you’ll be unable to work
If you’re employed, submit your sick note and your current location to your employer immediately (no later than 3 days after you become unable to work). You don’t need a statement from your private health insurance provider.
Why we recommend travel health insurance on top

No coverage limitations: Outpatient and inpatient treatments are fully covered.
Extra support for emergencies:
Repatriation in case of serious illness
Burial or transport to your home country in case of death
