Our dental insurance covers tooth replacement procedures under the Advanced plan, while the Basic plan does not provide additional coverage beyond public health benefits. Reimbursement is calculated by combining the public health provider's contribution with our supplementary dental insurance to meet the selected coverage percentage (80%, 90%, or 100%). This ensures comprehensive support for dental prostheses, reducing out-of-pocket costs.

What are tooth replacement procedures?

The German term for this group of dental treatments is der Zahnersatz, which translates to 'dental prosthesis'. A dental prosthesis is a structure designed to replace or restore one or more damaged or missing teeth. We refer to this group of dental treatments as tooth replacement procedures. The most common examples are:

  • Crowns

  • Implants

  • Bridges

  • Onlays/Inlays

  • Veneers

  • Dentures

How is coverage for tooth replacement procedures calculated?

Our Advanced dental plan offers three levels of coverage you can receive towards this type of dental work: 80, 90, or 100%. The option that you choose is the maximum amount you are able to be covered for a tooth replacement procedure between the contribution from your public health provider and the reimbursement from Feather's dental insurance. Your Advanced plan directly impacts how a reimbursement is calculated if you ever have to make this type of claim.

First, the contribution from your public health provider is taken into account. Then, our supplementary dental insurance will offer an additional reimbursement to bring your total coverage up to the percentage you selected with your Advanced plan. In other words:

(Sum total of tooth replacement procedures x Tariff %) - Public Contribution = Maximum reimbursement from us
