Thinking about getting your teeth whitened? While whitening is considered a cosmetic treatment, it’s still possible to get support—depending on which dental plan you have. Here’s what to know before booking an appointment.

Does dental insurance cover tooth whitening?

Our Advanced dental insurance plan reimburses up to €200 every two calendar years for professional tooth whitening or bleaching treatments. These treatments must be performed in a dental practice or be supervised by a licensed dentist. There is no waiting period, so coverage begins immediately when the policy starts.

Is tooth whitening covered under all dental insurance plans?

No, tooth whitening is generally considered cosmetic treatment and is not covered by many insurance policies. Our Basic dental insurance plan does not cover tooth whitening. Only our Advanced dental insurance plan offers reimbursement for these procedures.

What conditions apply to receiving reimbursement for tooth whitening?

The tooth whitening treatment must be carried out in a dental practice or under the supervision of a qualified dentist. Treatments done at cosmetic clinics without dental oversight are not eligible for reimbursement.

How often can I claim reimbursement for tooth whitening?

Reimbursement of up to €200 is available every two calendar years under our Advanced dental insurance plan. This allowance doesn’t carry over—if you don’t use it within the two-year period, it resets.

How can I sign up for the Advanced dental insurance plan?

You can get a quote and enroll in the Advanced dental insurance plan through our website. If you have questions or need assistance, you can always contact our experts for support.
