If your pet is diagnosed with an illness during the waiting period, that condition — and any consequences that follow — won’t be covered, even after the waiting period ends. The same applies to pre-existing conditions that were known before you bought the policy. If your pet is already undergoing treatment, or if treatment has been recommended for a specific condition, insurance coverage unfortunately isn’t available.
If none of these situations apply, the general waiting period is one month. This means you can only insure pets that are in good health at the time of purchase, and any illnesses that appear during the waiting period will be permanently excluded from coverage.
