Your household contents insurance policy is specific to your address and apartment size. When you move, you'll need to cancel that policy and purchase one specific to your new home.

Both apartments are covered during the move!

Your old policy will cover both apartments temporarily for a maximum of three months during the moving process, while your belongings are between properties as long as you let us know in advance.*

What date should my new policy start?

You can signup for your new address and set the start date for when all your personal property is finally at that location and you move in permanently.

When should I cancel my old policy?

Your household contents insurance is a monthly policy and can be canceled at any time easily in your Feather account. When you move, make sure you cancel before the next billing date to avoid paying for an additional month.
If you move and your new policy starts in the middle of the month, we'll pro-rata refund any overlapping days.

What if I move to a second home?

Your household contents insurance policy only covers your primary residence. If you continue to live in your previous apartment in addition to a new address in Germany (dual residence), only the primary address on the policy is covered as the insured location.

Can I have two household policies for 2 separate addresses?

We can only insure your primary residence in Germany. Your primary residence is the place you live the majority of the time and generally where most of your belongings are.
If you have another apartment outside of Germany, that is unfortunately not covered under this policy.

What if I'm moving abroad permanently?

Although your household contents insurance protects your belongings worldwide for temporary trips, you must continue to be a resident of Germany to be covered. If you're moving abroad permanently, you'll need to cancel your policy.

* Purchase a new policy with a future start date, no later than the end of your old policy to ensure no gaps in coverage.
