Reinstating a cancelled expat health insurance policy

Written by Manthos

If a payment fails for your expat health insurance policy, we'll send reminder emails until the 15th of the month. If payment still hasn't been made by then, your policy will be cancelled. From that point, you have 30 days to contact us and reinstate your policy. After 30 days, reinstatement is no longer possible β€” you'll need to take out a new policy, which comes with a 31-day waiting period. Any conditions claimed under your old policy will also be treated as pre-existing in the new one.

What happens if I miss a payment on my expat health insurance?

If a payment fails, we'll send you reminder emails until the 15th of the month to let you know. If the payment still hasn't gone through by then, your policy will be cancelled due to non-payment.

Can I reinstate a cancelled policy?

Yes β€” if your policy was cancelled due to a missed payment, you have 30 days from the date of your cancellation notification (usually the 15th of the month) to reinstate it. Simply reach out to us and we'll arrange collection of the outstanding payment and get your policy back on track.

What happens if I don't reinstate within 30 days?

After 30 days from your cancellation notification, reinstatement is no longer an option. You'll need to take out a new policy. There are two things to be aware of if that happens:

  • Your new policy will include a 31-day waiting period before coverage begins.

  • Any medical events that were claimed for under your old policy will be considered pre-existing conditions and will not be covered under the new policy.
