What is it and does my dog need it?

In Germany, if you're a dog owner you're liable for any damage that your dog does to someone else or their property.

Dog liability insurance protects you from the damages or injuries caused by your dog to another person or their property, it's like liability insurance, but for your dog.

Do I need to have it?

If you live in any of these 6 states in Germany it's mandatory that you have this insurance:
Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Thuringia and Schleswig-Holstein.

In all other parts of Germany it's not a requirement, but highly recommended as whatever damage your dog does, you would have to pay.

What does it cover?

Our policy covers your dog up to 20 million euros for:

  • Property damage

  • Damage to rented apartments

  • Injuries to other dogs

  • Financial loss

  • Harm caused to other dogs

  • Walking without leash

  • Puppies coverage

  • Worldwide cover

Dog liability insurance doesn't cover damage to your own belongings, Rented electronics or broken glass in your own home.
