Are you looking for legal insurance because you are about to sign a new employment or rental contract? Frequently, we are asked if a lawyer can review these contracts before they are signed. Below will help you understand when legal insurance can help!

Reviewing legal contracts is a highly sought-after service because it ensures that everything is stated accurately, with no errors or discrepancies, and importantly, provides acceptable terms to prevent a final agreement that is unsatisfactory for all parties.

Our legal insurance will not support the review of any new or existing contracts unless there is a perceived breach of the contract or a particular duty has been violated.

For example, you are about to sign your rental agreement and you need a lawyer to review the contract because you are not sure if the rental increase provisions stipulated in the contract are according to the current laws in your area. This is not considered an insurable event since you have yet to enter into a legally binding agreement and there has not been a breach of contract.

On the other hand, if you are already in a contractual agreement, and an issue should arise, legal insurance may be able to support the review of your contract! Don't forget to choose the Property add-on for coverage involving landlord or property management disputes.

It is important to note that coverage is not possible if an issue arises during the waiting periods.
