You can cover spouses, your biological or adopted children, and your parents.

They need to meet the following requirements:

  1. Their monthly income is less €556 per month

If they earn more, they need to get insurance themselves. You can check their options with our recommendation tool.

  2. No severe existing health conditions

Check out which conditions lead to an immediate denial. With other conditions, we'll let you know the impact after checking the application.

  3. Children are insured with the higher-earning parent

If both parents have the same type of insurance—either both public or both private—things are simple: Your child will be covered under the same insurance.

If you're both publicly insured, your child can be added at no extra cost.

But if the higher-earning parent has private health insurance and the other has public health insurance, your child isn't eligible for the free public health insurance. In that case, you’ll need to choose: add your child to private health insurance, or add them to public health insurance for around €210 per month.
