What is the traffic coverage in legal insurance for?

The traffic add-on covers legal issues related to driving, owning, or using a vehicle or commuting. Whether you’re a driver, passenger, cyclist, using public transportation, or even pedestrian, it’s meant to help you with legal disputes, not everyday traffic costs like fuel, tolls, or routine fines.

Does legal insurance cover parking tickets or speeding fines?

No, legal insurance does not cover the cost of paying fines like parking tickets or speeding penalties.

However, if you believe a fine is unjustified (for example, due to unclear signs or an error in how the violation was recorded) legal insurance can help you contest it. This includes covering legal advice or representation to dispute the charge.

What kinds of traffic issues are covered?

Legal insurance with the traffic add-on can support you in situations like:

  • Disputing a wrongfully issued fine (e.g., speeding or parking)

  • Resolving issues after a car accident (especially if you’re not at fault)

  • Dealing with insurance disputes related to traffic accidents

  • Addressing license-related issues or unfair administrative decisions

  • Getting help if you were involved in a hit-and-run or pedestrian incident

Does it only apply if I’m the driver?

No, traffic coverage also applies if you’re a passenger, cyclist, pedestrian, or even a user of an e-bike or scooter. You don’t have to own a vehicle to benefit!

What if I rent or borrow a car?

You’re still covered. The traffic add-on protects you when using private vehicles, even if they’re rented, borrowed, or part of a car-sharing program, as long as it’s for personal use.

What’s not covered by traffic legal insurance?

  • Paying fines (only support to dispute them)

  • Issues involving business vehicles or commercial driving

  • Disputes arising before your policy started

How do I know if I have traffic coverage?

Traffic protection is included in all of Feather's legal insurance plans and there is no waiting period. So if you have an active policy, you can be covered for future traffic-related disputes!
