Does legal insurance cover contract reviews before signing?
Generally, no. Legal insurance doesn’t cover the review of new contracts before you sign them. This is because no legal dispute has occurred yet, and insurance is designed to support you when something has gone wrong, not as a preventive check.
Are there any exceptions where legal insurance does support contract reviews?
Yes, but only in specific situations. If you’re already in an active contract (like a rental agreement or service contract) and a dispute arises (such as a suspected breach or unfair clause) your legal insurance may cover legal support. In these cases, reviewing the contract would be part of resolving the legal issue.
Keep in mind:
Legal insurance can’t help with contract reviews during the waiting period.
For property-related contract disputes (like those with landlords), you must have the Home Add-On.
Is there another way to have a contract reviewed before signing?
Yes, through a service called JurCheck, offered by our legal insurance provider, Roland. It allows you to upload a contract for a general legal review, even before signing. However, there are a few important things to know:
The document must be in German.
Feedback will also be provided in German.
Only certain types of contracts can be reviewed (for example, common consumer agreements). Complex legal, financial, or business-related contracts may not be eligible.
The service is meant to check for common legal issues, not to offer custom legal advice.
How do I use the JurCheck service?
Visit Roland’s service portal
Create an account and register your policy number, but making sure to remove the first “0”.
Once logged in, select “JurCheck” from the menu.
Upload the contract document in PDF format (in German).
You’ll receive feedback directly through the portal once the review is complete.
