What should I know before submitting a claim for my personal liability insurance?

This article explains key guidelines for submitting a personal liability insurance claim.

Written by Rob Schumacher

Before submitting a personal liability insurance claim, do not pay the injured party directly. Provide detailed information such as the incident description, date, photos, invoices, and the injured party's contact details to help us process the claim quickly and pay the third party directly. Inform us immediately if you have already paid the other party.

What should I know before submitting a claim for personal liability insurance?

If you face a personal liability claim due to damage or injury to another person or their belongings, do not pay the other person out-of-pocket. Our insurance team must first review and approve the claim to avoid unjust or excessive payments. Once approved, we will pay the injured party directly.
If you pay the person directly yourself, you may be left out of pocket.

What information should I provide when submitting a liability claim?

To process your claim quickly, include detailed information such as:

  • A full and thorough description of what exactly happened

  • The date of the incident

  • Invoices and repair estimates if available

  • Photos of the damage or injury wherever possible

  • The injured party's name, postal address, and email address

If the third party has already paid for repairs or medical treatment, please include that information as well.

What should I do if I have already paid the injured person?

Inform us immediately! This helps us manage the reimbursement process accurately.

How can I submit my liability claim?

You can submit a claim through your account. We have a step-by-step guide to help.

Should I tell my landlord or agency about the damage and claim?

Yes β€” if the claim is related to their property, always let your landlord or property agency know about the damage and the claim you've submitted. If the claim is covered, we'll need to get in touch with them directly, and we can't move forward with the claim process without their collaboration. Give them a heads-up so they're prepared and know to expect our contact. If they haven't received our email, ask them to check their spam folder, or double-check that the email address you provided us is correct.
