When is the payment for private health insurance due?
The first payment is due once your private health insurance coverage is confirmed and active. If your policy start date is in the past, payment is due once the coverage confirmation occurs. All subsequent payments are due on the first day of each month.
What payment methods are available for private health insurance?
You can pay by direct debit or manual bank transfer:
Direct debit is the recommended method and can be set up during application or anytime in your account. If you have outstanding payments, you must clear your balance before activating direct debit. Using a European bank account is advised to avoid issues.
Manual bank transfers are also accepted. Payments must be sent to the specified bank account with your policy number included in the payment message to ensure proper matching. This bank account is only for private health insurance (PKV) payments.
Why we recommend direct debit: If your plan offers a cashback, you only get it while the direct debit is active. Cashbacks do not apply to any periods where the payment is made manually.
What are the bank details for manual payment of PKV?
For manual payments to private health insurance, use the following details:
IBAN: DE24 6005 0101 0001 1144 45
BIC: SOLADEST600
Recipient: HALLESCHE KV

Important
This bank account is only for payments related to German private health insurance (PKV) through Feather. If you’re paying for another type of insurance (like Expat health, Dental, etc.), please check your billing page on your Feather account or contact us for support.
How does employer reimbursement work if I am employed in Germany?
If you are employed in Germany, you pay the full monthly private health insurance cost initially. Your employer will reimburse their share, usually 50%, through your salary. After your policy activates, your employer can access the contribution information through the electronic tax reporting system.
What happens if payment is late or missed?
If the first payment isn’t made within 2 weeks, the coverage is canceled.
If subsequent payments after the first are repeatedly missed, parts of your coverage may be canceled.
Late payment fees will apply in cases of delayed payment.
