Feather’s legal insurance is intended for private individuals who live in the home themselves, either as renters or owner-occupants. It does not provide coverage for landlords who rent out property to others.
What if I’m subletting my apartment to someone else?
Legal insurance through Feather does not cover legal issues related to subletting, either. If you’re subleasing your apartment, whether short-term or long-term, you won’t be eligible for coverage under this policy.
Why doesn’t the policy cover landlords or subletting?
This insurance is focused on protecting people in their role as a resident, not as a landlord or property manager. Legal disputes around rental income, tenant behavior, or sublease agreements fall outside the scope of this personal coverage.
What kind of coverage do I need if I’m a landlord?
You would need a specialized landlord legal insurance policy, which is structured differently and covers risks specific to owning and renting out property. Feather’s current legal insurance does not include this nor do we offer this type of insurance.
