Your pet must be at least 8 weeks old to be insured, and you’ll need to take out coverage before their 6th birthday. If your pet is already 6 or older, unfortunately they can’t be insured.

Lifetime coverage once insured

If you insure your pet before their 6th birthday, they’ll stay covered for life. Even as they grow older and develop age-related health issues, their insurance remains valid as long as the policy is active.

Examples

  • A puppy insured at 12 weeks old can stay protected well into old age.

  • A cat adopted at 7 years old won’t be eligible for new insurance.

Why these rules exist

Older pets are more likely to already have health conditions, which makes them harder to insure. By starting coverage early, you ensure your pet has protection when they need it most.
