Policies that started on or before April 16, 2026:
There's an initial one-year minimum contract period. To end your policy after that first year, you'll need to request cancellation at least 3 months before your anniversary date.
After the first year is up, you're free to cancel whenever you like, just give one month's notice, and your policy will end on the last day of the following month.
Policies that started between November 1, 2023 - April 16, 2026:
Policies started between these dates will have the end date scheduled for the end of the following month. For example if you took our a legal insurance policy on November 15, 2024 and requested cancellation on November 11, 2025 the end date will be scheduled for December 31, 2025.
Policies that started before November 1, 2023:
You must provide a full one-month notice based on your policy start date, not your monthly billing date. Cancelling before the policy anniversary date avoids an extra full premium charge. Cancellation after the anniversary date leads to another full month's premium plus a prorated calculation for remaining days.
Example: Cancellation before the monthly renewal date:
If you provide the one-month cancellation notice before the policy's monthly renewal date, you will not be charged for an additional full month. For instance, if your policy started on October 19 and you cancel on January 11, the policy will end on February 19, and a prorated amount will be calculated for the remaining days between February 1 and February 19.
Example: Cancellation After the Monthly Renewal Date:
If you submit a cancellation request after your policy's monthly renewal date, you will be charged for another full month's premium. For example, if your policy started on October 19 and you cancel on January 20, you must pay for February in full as the one-month notice period.

I would like to submit a claim but my policy is now cancelled, what can I do?
You may still be covered by your legal insurance, as long as the dispute occurred while your policy was active. The best way to find out is to submit a claim as usual through the Feather app, and Roland will be in touch to let you know whether and how it can be covered.
Here's how to submit your claim:
Log in to your Feather account
Go to the "Expired policies" section
From there, you'll be able to submit your claim to Roland
I am relocating from Germany, is it possible to keep my legal insurance?
As you must be a German resident to be eligible for the policy, if you move out of the country, you will need to cancel the policy.
The easiest way to do so would be to provide your Abmeldung (de-registration form) once you have that. We can then cancel the legal insurance policy as of the same date listed there.
Otherwise, you can cancel your legal insurance yourself through your account at any time. Just be aware doing so this way requires a one-month notice, so the termination date might be further past your move-out date.
How do I cancel my policy?
Legal insurance can be easily canceled - we just require a one-month notice. To cancel, simply log in to your Feather account and go to your legal insurance policy. There, you’ll see a “Cancel Policy” button. When you click it, you’ll be shown your cancellation date based on your plan’s terms. You can then confirm if you’d like to go ahead with it. You'll receive a confirmation email for your records.
This process ensures you know exactly when your coverage will end, no surprises.
I want to reactivate an old policy, how do I do that?
Once a policy has been cancelled and is no longer active, it can't be reactivated. The good news is you're welcome to sign up for a new policy anytime through our website. Just keep in mind that a new policy starts fresh, so the usual waiting periods will apply again, and any legal issues that came up before the new start date won't be covered.
