Our Basic and Advanced legal insurance plans differ in several important areas. The Advanced plan has shorter waiting periods for employment law disputes, a longer right of withdrawal period, and higher worldwide coverage limits. It also covers some self-employment disputes and provides greater protection for family law, investments, and real estate-related claims. The Basic plan offers limited coverage in these areas.

What waiting periods apply to claims under our Basic and Advanced legal plans?

The waiting periods differ based on the area of law your claim falls under. For example, the Basic legal plan requires a six-month waiting period before you can file claims related to employment law disputes, while the Advanced plan has a shorter waiting period of three months for the same type of claims.

For more details on waiting periods and a breakdown by legal areas, refer to our detailed guide.

How long is the right of withdrawal period for each legal plan?

The Basic plan includes a 14-day right of withdrawal period during which you can cancel the contract and receive a full refund if no insurance service has been used. The Advanced plan offers a longer right of withdrawal period of 60 days under the same condition.

What are the worldwide coverage limits for legal cases outside Germany?

Basic plan: €250,000

Advanced plan: €500,000.

Do the legal plans cover disputes related to self-employment or freelancing?

The Basic plan does not cover legal disputes related to self-employment or freelancing. The Advanced plan provides coverage for secondary self-employment or freelancing income up to €22,000 annually. Neither plan covers disputes if self-employment is your primary income source.

How does coverage for family law disputes differ between the two plans?

Under the Basic plan, coverage for inheritance or civil partnership/marriage disputes is limited to €250 per case. The Advanced plan provides coverage up to €5,000 per inheritance dispute and up to €2,500 per civil partnership or marriage dispute.

What investment-related legal coverage is included in each plan?

The Basic plan covers legal disputes involving only low-risk investments. The Advanced plan includes coverage for high-risk investments and assets up to €50,000.

How do the plans differ in coverage for home and real estate law disputes?

The Advanced plan includes broader protection for property-related legal disputes:

  • Building and construction disputes are covered up to €5,000 per case under the Advanced plan but are not covered under the Basic plan.

  • Claims related to expropriation, planning approval, and land consolidation are covered up to €100,000 per case under the Advanced plan and not covered under the Basic plan.

  • The Advanced plan also covers disputes over development and local connection work, which are excluded from the Basic plan.
