Expat health insurance provides cover associated with the costs of ambulance transport to the nearest inpatient (overnight) treatment in the nearest suitable hospital and back to your accommodation.

Transport for outpatient treatment is not insured.

We understand that it is not always certain whether you will be admitted to the hospital as an inpatient or an outpatient. However, please be aware that transport will only be covered for inpatient stays.

Can I claim for transport if it wasn’t an ambulance?

If it happens that you were transported to the hospital via another appropriate means such as by the fire service, you can submit a claim for this, as long as it led to an inpatient stay.

If you were transported to the hospital by a taxi or ride-share service, there is no coverage.
