Your expat health insurance documents are issued once at sign-up and are not reissued automatically. If an authority asks for a certificate with a recent issuance date, you can request a new copy of your Anlage 6. We can also issue city-specific insurance certificates that are not available in your Feather account. Requests are answered within 1 business day, and the document is attached to our reply.
How do I request an updated expat health insurance document with a new issuance date?
Reissued documents are provided on request only, so you need to ask us each time you need a current issuance date. To request one:
Log in to your Feather account and open your expat health insurance policy.
Start a support request from your policy. You can contact us for more assistance or additional resources.
Tell us which document you need us to reissue. Usually, that will be the Anlage 6, although it can vary by city.
Give the date of your appointment, and state whether the authority has asked for a specific issuance date. Typically, the document has to be issued within 14 days of your appointment.
When do I need an updated expat health insurance certificate?
You need an updated document when an authority asks for a certificate that was issued recently, rather than the version you received when you signed up. This most often applies to visa extensions and residence permit renewals, where the office wants a certificate dated close to your appointment. Your original documents remain valid for your coverage ; the issuance date is the only reason to request a new copy.
Which expat health insurance documents can I have reissued?
Only 2 kinds of document are available on request:
The Anlage 6 (confirmation of coverage), reissued with a current issuance date.
A city-specific insurance certificate that is not available in your Feather account, such as the forms required in Frankfurt (Anlage 1 and 2), Hamburg, Nuremberg, and Magdeburg.
All other expat health insurance documents are issued once at sign-up and cannot be reissued. You can download them at any time from the "Policy documents" section of your policy, including the existing Expat Certificate Of Authority, which you present together with your Anlage 6.
How will I receive my updated expat health insurance document, and how long does it take?
We answer requests within 1 business day. How you receive the document depends on which one you requested:
Reissued Anlage 6: the Anlage 6 in the "Policy documents" section of your Feather account is updated with the new issuance date, so you can download the current version from your policy at any time.
City-specific insurance certificate: the completed form is sent back to you by email or chat (depending on how you contacted us), because city-specific certificates are not part of the standard document set in your Feather account.
All documents are provided digitally only. You are welcome to print them if the office requires a physical copy.
What changes on a reissued Anlage 6?
Only the issuance date changes. The coverage details, policy number (Versicherungsnummer), insured person, and policy start date on the reissued Anlage 6 are identical to your original. Requesting a reissued document does not change your policy, your coverage period, or your premium.
