A SVNR (Sozialversicherungsnummer) is not automatically generated for you when signing up for expat insurance. If you require this number for upcoming employment, you must apply for either statutory public or private health insurance. You can use our Recommendation Tool to check your eligibility!
Job seekers typically don't need to worry about obtaining an SVNR, as it is issued automatically upon securing employment and joining public health insurance for the first time. Freelancers and working students who do require one, however, can obtain it by visiting their local pension office or by requesting it by post through our online form.
Please note that while we provide the online form as a service, the application process is handled directly by the Deutsche Rentenversicherung. You can contact their support team for more assistance or additional resources.
