Though the translation of Künstlersozialkasse (KSK) is literally "artists' social fund," the KSK covers many categories of freelancers. In addition to designers, musicians, visual artists, and performers, the KSK also broadly covers authors, copywriters, journalists, publicists, and technical writers.
